Beijing tips

Beijing is the capital of the People's Republic of China and is one of the Four Great Ancient Capitals of China. Beijing is recognized as the political, education and cultural center of the People's Republic of China, with more than 17 million people. The City hosted the 2008 Olympic Games.

Climate
Beijing's climate is monsoon influenced humid continental climate with hot, humid summers and cold, dry winters. The average temperatures in July are around 30°C (87°F) while it's around 1°C (33°F) in winter. The best time to visit is in September and October, the average temperature is around 19-25°C (67-78°F).

Beijing is eight hours ahead of GMT.

Electricity
Standard electricity is 220V.

Money
The official currency of the People's Republic of China is the renminbi (People's Money), often abbreviated RMB. The local banks in Beijing can help you transfer money from and to most countries, as well as exchanging your money into RMB.

Visa
Most travelers will need a visa to visit mainland China. In most cases, this should be obtained from a Chinese embassy or consulate before departure. Nationals of Singapore, Brunei and Japan do not need a visa to visit China for a stay of up to 15 days, regardless of the reason of visit. Visa on Arrival is not applicable to travel to Beijing.

Sightseeing
Beijing is a famous oriental city with profound history and splendid culture. You can visit the Great Wall of China, Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, Water Cube (National Aquatics Center) and Bird's Nest (Beijing National Stadium). Besides sightseeing, you can enjoy the special and relaxing foot massage in central Beijing.
